What is Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade?
The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade has marched through Manhattan every Thanksgiving morning since 1924, ending outside Macy's flagship store at Herald Square. Giant character balloons, first added in 1927, float above the route alongside marching bands, floats and Broadway performances. Millions watch along the streets and on television, and the parade traditionally ends with the arrival of Santa Claus, signalling the start of the holiday season.
