What is Laylat al-Qadr (Night of Power)?
Laylat al-Qadr — Kadir Gecesi in Turkish — is the holiest night of the Islamic year, falling in the last ten nights of Ramadan, traditionally on the 27th. The Quran describes it as 'better than a thousand months'. Muslims spend the night in prayer believing their supplications are especially answered. In Turkey, mosques are packed with worshippers and minarets glow throughout the night.
