National Hurricane Preparedness Week
Prepare before the storm.

When is National Hurricane Preparedness Week?
From May 4 to May 10.
What is National Hurricane Preparedness Week?
National Hurricane Preparedness Week, held in early May, helps families get ready before the Atlantic hurricane season begins on June 1. The National Weather Service uses the week to explain storm surge, flooding and wind risks, which reach far inland as well as along the coast. People are urged to know their evacuation zone, build an emergency kit, and check their insurance before a storm is on the way.
