What is Global Smurf Day?
Global Smurf Day fills the streets with blue faces, white hats, and wide smiles. Established in 2011 by Sony Pictures Animation to celebrate the birthday of Peyo — the Belgian artist who created the little blue characters in 1958 — the inaugural event earned a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Smurfs. Held on the Saturday closest to June 25, the day celebrates imagination, kindness, and teamwork through costumes, parties, and comic marathons.
