Captive Nations Week
Freedom is not a gift; it is a right.

When is Captive Nations Week?
From July 19 to July 25.
What is Captive Nations Week?
Captive Nations Week, held in the third week of July, stands with people living under authoritarian and communist rule and their right to freedom and self-determination. Congress created it in 1959, during the Cold War, and every president since Dwight D. Eisenhower has proclaimed it. Diaspora communities from Eastern Europe, Asia, Cuba and beyond hold rallies and remembrance events, keeping the stories of political prisoners in view.
