Festival of Archaeology
Dig into the past.

When is Festival of Archaeology?
Every year on July 18.
What is Festival of Archaeology?
The Festival of Archaeology invites people across the UK to explore the nation's heritage through digs, tours, workshops, and talks, making the distant past feel vivid and hands-on. It runs for a fortnight each July to coincide with peak fieldwork season. Organised by the Council for British Archaeology, it began in 1990 as National Archaeology Day with just ten activities.
