What is Baku Jazz Festival?
The Baku Jazz Festival fills the streets of Azerbaijan's capital with music every autumn. Founded in 2005 by saxophonist Rain Sultanov to celebrate a genre that had been banned during the Soviet era, the festival has grown into a multi-venue citywide showcase. World-class artists like Herbie Hancock and Al Jarreau have shared the stage with local Azerbaijani talents, and the festival is now a UNESCO International Jazz Day partner — a powerful symbol of jazz's universal reach.
