What is International Day of Cooperatives?
The International Day of Cooperatives, held on the first Saturday in July, celebrates how cooperatives improve the lives of their members and communities by blending economic success with social responsibility. The modern movement began in 1844 with English textile workers, and the International Cooperative Alliance has marked this day since 1927. The UN officially recognized it in 1992.
