What is Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta?
The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is the world's largest balloon festival, drawing hundreds of hot air balloons of every shape and color to the New Mexico desert each October. Held annually since 1972 and running about nine days in early October, the fiesta features mass ascensions where hundreds of balloons lift off at once, glowing night glows where envelopes are illuminated like lanterns, and special-shape balloons that defy belief. The event transforms the Albuquerque skyline into a moving painting each fall.
