What is National Mutt Day?
National Mutt Day, also marked again each December 2, celebrates mixed-breed dogs and raises awareness of the many wonderful mutts still waiting in shelters. Founded by animal welfare advocate Colleen Paige, the day pushes back against the stigma sometimes attached to the word "mutt," highlighting how these dogs often combine the best traits of multiple breeds. It's a call to adopt, care for, and celebrate every one-of-a-kind mixed-breed companion.
