What is International Snowdon Race?

The International Snowdon Race is a punishing mountain run up and down Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), Wales's highest peak, over a 15.35 km course from Llanberis. Held on the third Saturday in July, it draws elite fell runners from around the world. It began in 1976 when Ken Jones wondered how fast someone could run up and down the mountain — 86 runners took the first challenge.
