General Pulaski Memorial Day

When is General Pulaski Memorial Day?

Every year on October 11.

What is General Pulaski Memorial Day?

General Pulaski Memorial Day on October 11 honours Casimir Pulaski, the Polish nobleman who fought for American independence and is remembered as the father of the American cavalry. He covered George Washington's retreat at the Battle of Brandywine in 1777 and was mortally wounded leading a charge at the Siege of Savannah in 1779. The day celebrates Polish American heritage, and New York's Pulaski Day Parade on Fifth Avenue is one of its biggest events.
