What is World Homeless Day?
World Homeless Day raises awareness of the more than 100 million people worldwide without adequate housing. First observed in 2005 and born from conversations among aid workers across continents, the day carries a simple slogan: 'locals act locally on a global day.' It invites grassroots campaigns, fundraisers, and education in your own community, while standing in solidarity with everyone working on homelessness around the world. The day's message is that the path out of homelessness runs through local action — and that every person deserves safety, autonomy, and a place to call home.
