Established in 1992 as Clergy Appreciation Day and championed by Focus on the Family, the day is celebrated on the second Sunday of October as part of Pastor Appreciation Month. Congregations mark the occasion with notes, gifts, surprise sermons, or simply covering a Sunday service so their pastor can rest.
