What is National Grandparents Day?
National Grandparents Day falls on the first Sunday after Labor Day and celebrates the love, wisdom and stories grandparents pass on. West Virginia homemaker Marian McQuade campaigned for it, and President Jimmy Carter signed it into law in 1978. Families visit, call or write to their grandparents, and the day's official flower is the forget-me-not.
