What is National Bible Week?

National Bible Week is observed in the United States during Thanksgiving week, from the Sunday before the holiday to the Sunday after. It was started in 1941 by the Laymen's National Bible Committee, at a time when the country was heading into the Second World War. Churches, families and study groups use the week for daily readings, discussion and reflection on what the biblical texts mean for everyday life.
