What is Grand National?
The Grand National, run each year at Aintree Racecourse on a Saturday in early-to-mid April, is the world's most famous steeplechase — a four-and-a-quarter-mile, 30-fence race held over the Liverpool course since 1839. Founded by hotelier William Lynn, the race has produced legends like Red Rum, Foinavon, and Rachael Blackmore (the first woman to win in 2021) and draws a global television audience estimated in the hundreds of millions.
