What is Children in Need Day?
Children in Need is the BBC's annual charity appeal for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK, broadcast as a telethon on a Friday in November since 1980. Its mascot, Pudsey Bear, wears a spotted bandana over one eye, and schools, offices and towns raise money with bake sales, sponsored challenges and dress-up days. The money funds local projects that help children facing poverty, illness, disability, neglect or caring for a family member.
